Part Time Senior Citizens Club Leader
SENIOR CITIZENS CLUB LEADER $19.95/HR
There exists (1) one part-time opening in the Senior Citizens Department for the position of Senior Citizens Club Leader.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
As a Senior Citizens Department Club Leader, you will lead and direct a diverse range of engaging activities and programs including arts, crafts, games, events, trips, clubs and guest speaker presentations. Club Leaders act as a liaison between town-sponsored clubs and the Senior Citizens Department. Club Leaders will attend all club meetings and offer guidance and support as needed. Club Leaders perform any related duties required to ensure the smooth and successful operation of the Senior Citizens Department and its programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and two (2) years of experience working with social, recreational or community services programs for the aged.
NOTE: Additional education from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State will be substituted for experience at the rate of thirty (30) credits = one (1) year experience.

About Smithtown Department of Public Safety
The Department of Public Safety consists of five operating divisions: Fire Prevention, Park Ranger, Investigation, Waterways and Navigation, and Emergency Management. The department is responsible for the uniformed enforcement and security activities within the town. This is accomplished by the various divisions patrolling in a community-oriented fashion. The department serves an area of 54 square miles and a population of over 160,000.
Smithtown has approximately 20 miles of shoreline and hosts thousands of parkland acres. Outdoor activities take place in many venues including our:
- A municipally owned pool and golf course
- Two marinas
- Two state parks
- Three boat launching ramps
- Three county parks
- Five beaches
- Over 25 town parks
