ABOUT KIDS & COMPANY

Kids & Company is seeking a dedicated and reliable Cook to join our team. Reporting to the Executive Head Chef, you will play an integral role in the day-to-day operation of our kitchen, preparing healthy meals and snacks for children attending our daycare centres. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about food safety and quality, and enjoys the unique benefit of an early morning schedule (4:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.), leaving your afternoons free.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, cook, and bake all meals and snacks along with Executive Chef for delivery to daycare centres on a daily basis.
- Ensure food is stored, handled, and disposed of safely in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Maintain daily temperature logs for food, refrigerators, and freezers.
- Prepare specialized meals and snacks for children with allergies, dietary restrictions, and vegetarian requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children with allergies and special dietary needs.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and food handling regulations.
- Oversee kitchen operations, including dishwashing, cleaning, and sanitizing of equipment, workstations, counters, and storage areas.
- Help prepare food for field trips, school-age programs, and community events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the needs of the business.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Available to work Monday to Friday, 4:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Current Food Handler Certification.
- Minimum 2–4 years of Lead cook experience.
- Experience working in a daycare, school, healthcare, or high-volume food service environment is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driver's abstract.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Successful completion of a criminal record check.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 45 lbs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and food safety.
