About The Role

The Senior Data Scientist - Supply Chain Operations (Warehousing Focus) at McKesson plays a pivotal role in advancing our supply chain modernization efforts. This position involves designing and implementing advanced data science solutions to optimize warehouse and distribution center operations. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in data science, industrial engineering, and supply chain management to address complex operational challenges, improve efficiency, and support strategic decision-making.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with warehouse operators, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to embed data-driven models into real-world workflows. Your work will directly influence operational decisions, enhance productivity, and contribute to McKesson's broader supply chain transformation initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply cutting-edge AI, machine learning, and optimization techniques to real-world logistics problems, ensuring the delivery of value-driven solutions that impact millions of lives.

Note: This position requires being on-site in Mississauga twice a week, following our flexible work model.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in data science, machine learning, or related fields, with a strong background in warehouse operations and supply chain systems. A degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field is typically required.

Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential, along with experience working on platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake. Candidates should have a proven track record of building and deploying production-grade data pipelines and models. Strong stakeholder engagement, communication skills, and the ability to solve ambiguous business problems end-to-end are critical for success in this role.

Preferred skills include experience with simulation, statistical modeling, optimization (LP/MILP, heuristics), time-series forecasting, anomaly detection, and decision system design. Familiarity with supply chain systems such as WMS, LMS, TMS, and ERP, as well as integrating data across these platforms, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Design and develop comprehensive end-to-end data science solutions to address complex warehouse challenges, including labor planning, productivity analytics, wave batching, flow optimization, predictive maintenance, and control tower analytics. Develop and implement models that directly influence operational decisions, providing optimization logic and actionable recommendations. Collaborate with warehouse operators and subject matter experts to embed models into existing workflows, ensuring practical applicability and adoption. Apply industrial engineering principles such as capacity planning, constraint analysis, workload balancing, queueing, and system flow modeling to enhance operational efficiency. Translate operational problems into mathematical models, simulations, and heuristics to identify optimal solutions. Extend solutions across various supply chain domains, including transportation, inventory, customer service, and quality management. Build, test, deploy, and monitor machine learning models, optimization engines, and simulation frameworks to ensure robust performance. Own the full lifecycle of models, from development through to deployment and ongoing monitoring, ensuring continuous improvement. Translate analytics findings into clear operational decisions and measurable business outcomes, influencing strategic planning and execution.
